What is home health care, and how does it work?
Home health care provides personalized support in the comfort of a client’s home, helping with daily activities, personal care, medication reminders, and medical needs. It’s an ideal option for individuals with chronic conditions like cancer, Alzheimer’s, and heart disease, as well as those recovering from injuries or surgeries. By receiving care at home, clients can maintain their independence, improve their quality of life, and enjoy a greater sense of well-being.
What is the difference between home health care and home care?
Home health care, also called skilled home care or medical home care, involves professional medical services provided by nurses, therapists, and home health aides. Home care focuses on non-medical assistance, such as meal prep, cleaning, and companionship. Both services allow clients to receive care in the comfort of their homes.
Who qualifies for home care services?
Anyone can qualify for home care services–there’s no need for a doctor’s referral, pre-authorization, or certification. You decide what services you need, when to start, and how often you’d like them.
Home health care services, which involve skilled medical care for homebound clients with limited mobility, require a physician’s referral for insurance coverage. If you qualify, Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance may cover part or all of the costs. Numerous programs help clients and families cover the costs of in-home care, and All Heart Homecare is here to help.
Can I choose my caregiver?
Federal law guarantees that clients can choose their own caregivers for home health care services. In New York, the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) allows individuals to hire and manage their own caregivers, including family members and close friends. Through CDPAP, caregivers are compensated for their time, and clients have the flexibility to determine their care schedule and needs.
Do you provide care for people with Alzheimer’s or dementia?
Yes, our highly trained caregivers provide in-home care services for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. Our compassionate care creates a safe and supportive environment, allowing patients to stay in the comfort of their own homes and maintain regular routines for as long as possible. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life while easing the emotional and physical burden on family members.
